About May

Welcome to May’s Thai Dish, where authentic Thai flavours come to life in the heart of Tunbridge Wells.

May’s passion for cooking was ignited early in her life on a rice farm in rural Thailand, near the Cambodian border. As the eldest of three, she grew up helping her family. Whether working in the rice paddies with her parents, or preparing meals for her siblings May was always deeply involved with food. By age 15, May was already honing her skills in her uncle's restaurant in the bustling streets of Bangkok, where she learned to work with exotic ingredients and mastered her family’s traditional recipes.

With a degree in hospitality business management, May went on to work in some of Bangkok’s finest five-star hotels. It was during this time that she met her future husband, an Englishman, and together they relocated to England. A chance encounter at Greenwich Market with a fellow Thai food vendor ignited May’s desire to share her love for Thai cuisine with her new community.

Over the years, May worked her way up to Head Chef in a local Thai restaurant. When the pandemic forced many restaurants to close, May embraced the opportunity to create something of her own. Now, she brings the warmth, flavours, and hospitality of Thailand directly to your home through her private dining experiences and Thai cooking masterclasses.
